Why I created this site.
The PMA430 is a beast like no other. Literally. As a pocket computer its complexities far outshine anything else in the portable audio/video or PDA product-line that I have encountered. I'm fairly tech-savvy, but know almost nothing about Linux. I also found myself doing quite a bit of research about its use and spending quite a bit of time trouble-shooting the thing. Part of that is due to my ignorance. Most of it is due to the way the device was implemented.
It's also really cool.
While information is available for the PMA430 elsewhere on the 'net, it is often dislocated, hard-to-find, or just in French. The provided manual is also woefully incomplete. Based on what I've been able to find and what little I've deduced, I figured I could put together a fairly complete, centralized resource for the PMA430. Or at least try.
What this site is.
I intend, with the help of others, to offer a centralized resource for using the PMA430. Substantial portions of this site are taken from the Yahoo! Groups (archosmultimedia and archos_PMA400) - and I will be giving credit where credit is due. I will offer tips, techniques, FAQs and trouble-shooting advice based primarily on my own experiences and those items that recur frequently in the Yahoo! Groups. I will regularly update it with my own findings and with suggestions from others.
I want this to be a place where new PMA430 owners can come and get the answers they need, and portal for more seasoned users to download software and offer new solutions.
